This is a procedure note for Exploring How InMode FX Works to Break Down Fat at Beomgye(Opening Soon) KKEUT Korean Clinic.
InMode FX targets fat cells using a combined approach of Radio Frequency (RF) and High-Voltage Pulse (HVP) energies.
Ensuring Close Contact Through Vacuum Suction
Initially, the handpiece gently draws the skin and its underlying fat layer, establishing close proximity. This precise contact is important for effectively delivering RF energy deep into the fat layer.
Preheating the Fat Cells
With the tissue held firmly, RF energy is applied to warm the fat layer quickly to a specific temperature, typically between 41-43 degrees Celsius. At this temperature, fat cells become more receptive to electrical stimulation; their cell membranes also exhibit increased fluidity. This stage prepares the cells for the subsequent electrical pulses to work efficiently.
Eliminating Fat Cells with High-Voltage Pulse (HVP)
Once the preparatory heating is complete, a series of short, powerful electrical pulses are delivered repeatedly, creating small, temporary pores in the fat cell membranes. These compromised fat cells then experience a rapid influx of calcium ions, which contributes to their natural breakdown. Since the affected fat cells are typically eliminated and do not regenerate, this may contribute to long-term improvements in the treated area.
This method offers a distinct approach compared to traditional massage or other RF procedures. Rather than simply reducing the size of fat cells temporarily, it employs a scientifically supported technique designed to destroy and remove the fat cells themselves.
The potential effectiveness of InMode FX can be influenced by the specific treatment protocols used. To encourage favorable outcomes, certain conditions are generally considered:
1. Strategic RF Time Adjustment (3 seconds → 2 seconds)
During the initial phase of the procedure, the RF exposure may begin at 3 seconds or more to quickly elevate the fat layer temperature to the desired range (41-43 degrees Celsius). Once this target temperature is achieved, the RF duration is often reduced to 2 seconds. Concurrently, the frequency of the electrical pulses (HVP) can be increased to promote fat cell destruction.
2. Minimum Treatment Duration of 6 Minutes (Based on Research)
For the effective breakdown and removal of fat cells, delivering device energy for a minimum of 6 minutes or more per treated area is often recommended. Several studies indicate that sustained stimulation exceeding 6 minutes may enhance the process of fat cell apoptosis.
3. Importance of Handpiece Movement and Overlap
During the initial warming stage, it is generally recommended to overlap the handpiece's application area by about 50-60%. This approach aims to ensure that energy is delivered consistently to the same fat cells, which can contribute to more efficient fat cell elimination.
4. Detailed Monitoring by the Clinician
Throughout the treatment, close real-time monitoring of the patient's skin temperature and overall condition is important. Promptly adjusting the intensity, suction level, and application intervals based on the skin's response is essential for maintaining safety and promoting effective outcomes.
