This is a procedure note for Targeting Jawline and Deep Cheek Fat: The Power of Shurink Intensity at Beomgye(Opening Soon) KKEUT Korean Clinic.

During procedure consultations, many patients
often inquire, "How many shots are typically needed for an effect?"
This is frequently one of their initial questions.
My experience in treating jawlines and buccal fat has shown that
the ‘energy strength (Shrink intensity)’ often has a more significant impact on the outcome than the total number of shots. This determines if jowls are subtly refined,
if buccal fat appears gently lifted,
or if midface heaviness is successfully reduced.
These desired improvements largely
manifest when the intensity is appropriately set.1. Why 'intensity' is vital for jowl treatment Jowls are not solely due to an abundance of fat.

Structural changes can also blur the natural boundary between the chin and neck.
Applying excessive intensity to this particular area
may not achieve the desired 'refinement',
but could instead lead to side effects like a hollowed appearance or unwanted shadows.
Such outcomes are possible.
The importance of intensity for jowls: -Given the non-uniform fat thickness around the chin, using a single intensity setting can lead to inconsistent treatment depths.
and the skin's ‘texture’ is refined using moderate intensity.
-Too much intensity can readily cause uneven shading or localized volume loss.
Thus, jowl treatment emphasizes not merely boosting intensity,
but rather a careful process of line refinement through precise intensity adjustment.
For the jawline, the outcome truly
often depends more on a subtle interplay of direction and depth
than on intensity alone. 2. Why 'intensity' is crucial for buccal fat
Buccal fat differs significantly from the superficial fat located in the cheeks.
When this deep fat pad beneath the cheekbones descends,it can cause the mid-face to appear full from the front, and contribute to a feeling of heaviness around the nasolabial folds.

Deep cheek fat possesses fundamentally distinct characteristics compared to superficial cheek fat.
When the fat pad situated deeply under the cheekbone begins to descend,
it may result in a protruding appearance in the midface area when seen from the front,
and contributes to a feeling of weightiness around the nasolabial folds.
This particular region tends not to respond effectively to low-intensity energy.
If only the superficial layers are targeted for tightening,
patients might often feel that
“there hasn't been a significant noticeable alteration.”
After the deep cheek fat layer is effectively managed,
a common observation, even immediately post-procedure,
is a sensation that patients describe as:
“My face feels noticeably lighter.”
This demonstrates the significant influence
the weight and volume of the deep layer
can have on overall facial contours.

Shurink (HIFU) employs
high-intensity focused ultrasound to achieve lifting effects.
The clinical outcome can vary significantly depending on which anatomical layer the energy precisely targets.
the clinical outcome can be completely different.
To better illustrate this distinction, consider the differences between jawline fat and deep cheek fat.
makes this distinction easier to understand.
For the jawline area,
energy intensity requires meticulous adjustment.
Conversely, for the deep cheek fat,
energy should be delivered assertively and adequately.
Given that these two regions involve
distinct anatomical layers,
the treatment approach will vary, even when utilizing the same Shurink (HIFU) device.
The treatment methodology needs to be adjusted.

The total number of shots signifies
the count of times the device is applied.
Conversely, energy intensity denotes
the density of energy transmitted with each pulse.
Even with an identical count of 300 shots, the final result may vary significantly:
Consequently,
the efficacy of a lifting treatment is not solely dependent on the shot count,
but rather on which specific facial layer effectively absorbs the delivered energy.
The critical factor influencing this is
energy intensity itself.

For an undefined jawline → Consider medium intensity to refine the contour
If there's heaviness in the sub-malar volume → High-intensity deep buccal fat lifting may be beneficial
If the nasolabial fold area appears less defined → Both layers may require careful adjustment
For a generally broad facial appearance → Simultaneous addressing of jowl fat and deep buccal fat is suggested
Each individual's facial structure is unique.
Even within the same individual, fat thickness varies between the left and right sides,
and the contours of the cheekbones, sub-zygomatic region, and jawline also exhibit individual differences.

Shurink treatment demands meticulous precision.
Energy intensity influences jawline fat and deep cheek fat in distinct ways.
Regarding the jawline,
the appropriate strength aims to refine skin texture and define contours.
For the deep cheek fat,
the necessary force involves mobilizing the deep fat pad.
While these procedures might superficially seem like the same type of lifting treatment,
they actually target distinct anatomical layers.
Therefore,
energy intensity emerges as a crucial factor influencing the final aesthetic result.
